    The Government enacted Resolution No. 19/2017/NQ-CP on continuing to implement main duties and solutions for improving business environment and enhancing national competitiveness in 2017 and orientation towards 2020. Consequently, according to the rating report issued by the World Bank, Vietnam has increased 14 levels in terms of business environment index and ranked 68th out of 190 economies in the world.

    On 15 March 2018, Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) welcomed a visit from Thailand Arbitration Centre (THAC) delegates. Mr. Tran Huu Huynh (President of VIAC) and Mr. Pasit Asawawattanaporn (Director of THAC) together with other members of VIAC and THAC attended the meeting and witnessed the signing of the Co-operation Agreement between the two centres.

    From 3-9 February, 2018, at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, PhD., Lawyer Le Dinh Vinh - Director of Vietthink Law Firm cum VIAC Arbitrator has attended the 68th session of Working Group II of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). The session aims at discussing the Draft Convention of the United Nations on Enforcement of International Commercial Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation.

    Mediation and commercial arbitration are two alternate dispute resolutions (outside courts) recognized by Vietnamese Rules. According to the law, these methods are based on the voluntariness of the agreement between each party and are enforced by number of rules such as: Resolution No.22/2017/NĐ-CP about Mediation and Commercial Arbitration Rules 2010.

    On November 4 in Hanoi, Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) in cooperation with the Asia Pacific Arbiration Group under International Bar Association (IBA) organized the International Arbitration Training Day 2017: Introduction of IBA Soft Law. The program attracted a large number of arbitrators, lawyers from Vietnamese businesses. The program aims to assist Vietnamese Businesses in gaining international experience in the use of international arbitration to settle disputes.

    Last week, Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) was honour to welcome Mr. Brooks W. Daly - Vice Secretary of Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) and representatives from Ministry of Foreign Affair in its head quarter. Mr. Daly, the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s representatives and VIAC personnel had a short discussion around dispute settlement method in Vietnam and proposed upcoming plans for future co-operation.

  • VIAC welcomed representative delegation of Samsung Vietnam 07/11/2017 15:10

    In the morning of 31 October 2017, the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC) had a meeting to welcome the visit from Samsung Vietnam’s delegation. Through the conversation, Samsung’s representative - Mr. Han Ki Wook (Legal Director of Samsung Vietnam) had given positive comments on the commercial arbitration trend in Vietnam in recent years. Mr. Han also shared that the progressive method of dispute resolution was the perfect piece for business civilization and he expressed goodwill to have better understanding of  VIAC’s process of dispute resolution.
